Roles for social Change Association-ADWAR signed a project agreement entitled “Mobile Family Courts “Protect women legal rights”, the project aim to support vulnerable women to break the barriers and increase the knowledge about rule of law and services available by family courts. Which will protect women from gender-based violence and promote gender equality through mobile Shari’a courts, as well as raise awareness among marginalized communities in Hebron governorate about the services and procedures of Shari’a courts, and make this information available to public.
ADWAR will work to promote the awareness of the youth and women in Hebron City, Tarqumia, Beit Ula, Beit Umar, AlDahreya, Dura, Yatta, Al Aroob, Soreif and Kharas; about women legal rights, GBV and Family court services, through several activities including education seminars and theater performances.
The project is in cooperation with Family courts, Palestinian universities, youth and women in universities, clubs, CBOs and youth centers, and in partnership with EPJP/Chemonics with the funding of USAID.
For her part, ADWAR general director Sahar Yousef Al-Kawasmeh said that the project will be a major contribution by increasing the knowledge of the rule of law and the services available by Shari’a courts. In which the Shari’a courts will work to develop their mechanisms to reach women in their places; for awareness of rights, access to social justice in a contribution to bridging the gaps of gender-based violence.
