On Monday, in cooperation with Radio Nisaa FM ,ADWAR Association organized a radio program to discuss the decision-making of the Wall and Resistance Commission in their efforts to improve the situation of women in the priority Bedouin communities in Ramallah and Bethlehem.
The workshop is part of the program “ADWAR Accountable Decision makers about their role in empowering women in Priority communities, within the framework of the project towards women who make change in Their Lives and the Lives of Others “, funded by the Dutch government and in partnership with local councils The Bedouin in Bethlehem and Ramallah and Radio Nisaa FM.
The project succeeded in activating the role of Bedouin women by forming women’s protection committees in these gatherings, launching initiatives to improve the reality of women, and establishing a leading women’s body capable of expressing the needs of Bedouin women to decision-makers.
The episode was devoted to Bedouin communities in the Al-M’azi , Jaba, and Al-Taiba Wadi Al-Sik Bedouin gathering, where these communities face challenges and obstacles that negatively affect the lives of women and residents.
ADWAR representative and the project coordinator Noor Manasra said “The project has succeeded in empowering women in these communities by responding to their needs and enhancing their ability to demand their own needs in their communities. The protection committees at the Wadi al-Sik have launched an initiative to provide” milk Churns “Is a necessary need for women who are engaged throughout the day in milking, which contributed to the effort and time and allowed them to perform other tasks.
Nisreen Qaddoumi, head of the gender unit at the Wall and Resistance Commission , said that the committee is working to identify the needs of women in the Bedouin communities to empower them and strengthen their steadfastness on their land, which is reflected in the establishment of these communities threatened with confiscation.
Kaddoumi added that the organization focuses on the needs of women to strengthen their steadfastness, so it has responded to the needs of women to provide water, electricity, roads, education and in addition to their demands for some initiatives to create a ladies’ salon and train women to work in the salon. What they need to do without having to travel long distances.
She noted that the efforts of the Commission are still insufficient to meet the needs of women in the Bedouin communities, which requires the intensification of efforts between the various women’s institutions and the private sector and government to improve this difficult reality.
For her part, she praised the efforts of the Authority and called for more work to empower women in these gatherings and to provide them with all the capabilities of steadfastness and empowerment to enhance their role in these gatherings..
