Project Increasing Women’s Political Participation Through Effective local election in Marginalized community

General Framework
Implemented in partnership with the Bedouin local councils which is classified as (C) area in Hebron and East Jerusalem governorates, the Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Women Affairs, The General Union of Palestinian women-GUPW, Central Election Commission CEC and Maan T.Vfunded by empowering women program in decision-making positions in the Middle East, implemented by the German Cooperation (GIZ) and authorized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 

 Period of Time 
9/2016– 4/2017 

 Objectives
– To raise marginalized Bedouin women capacities about the importance of political participation in local election through candidacy and voting as well as access to decision making positions in local councils.
-To enhance Bedouin women participation as decision makers at local councils in order to fulfil vulnerable woman gender needs and involve influential men to support women.
-To raise Palestinian community in general and local Bedouin community Awareness of changing the negative stereotyped image of Bedouin women roles, and the importance of their enrolment in local councils. 

 Targeted Group
The project targeted the Bedouin women and men in local councils in the Bedouin communities south of Hebron include (Um AlKhairKhashm AlDarajAlZweideenAlNajada, and AlRamadin), and East of Jerusalem Bedouin community of AlJahaleen (Abu Nowar).
