The Expanded meeting to highlight on the Men’s Coalition role to protect and advocate women, young women and girls from violence

On Saturday, 6/8/2022 in Battir, ADWAR Association implemented an expanded meeting to highlight on the Men’s Alliance role to protect and advocate women, young women and girls from Gender-Based violence. The meeting aimed to highlight the Men’s Alliance role in advocating and protecting women from gender-based violence, in addition to prepare and present the “Declaration of the Position of the Men’s Coalition to Protect Women from Gender-Based Violence” in order to present it to the competent authorities.
Mr. Ashraf Amro, Secretary of ADWAR Board of Directors started the meeting, highlighting the role played by ADWAR in various fields and its access to all society segments in order to support and advocate for women’s issues.
In turn, Mr. Hassan, the director of Battir Municipality, welcomed the attendees and appreciated the cooperation relationship between the municipality and ADWAR, and that it is always ready to build bridges of cooperation to support Palestinian women, young women and girls.
On her part, Mrs. Aya Khalila, representative of the United Nations Population Fund, expressed her happiness with the formation of the Men’s Alliance and their remarkable role in protecting and advocating for women from violence, and that it is a step that will have a significant impact in reducing violence in all its forms.
After that, Mrs. Asmaa Zaidat presented the story of one of the women who highlighted the role of the coalition members in protecting and advocating for women from gender-based violence, stressing the necessity of the continuity of the coalition’s work in order to guarantee and promote the rights of Palestinian women, young women and girls and protect them from all forms of violence and limit the consequences to practice violence against her.
Then, the facilitator of the meeting, Osama Al-Jaafari, presented the most important issues that women need in order to protect them from violence, the types of violence and their lineage in Palestinian society, and the proposed solutions to reduce and eliminate gender-based violence.
In the end, a declaration of the position of the Men’s Alliance to Protect Women from Gender-Based Violence was prepared and submitted, signed by the members of the coalition, in order to present it to the competent authorities.
This meeting comes within the project “We Men Are Your Allies 2” in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and in partnership with the Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association through the joint Hayat program funded by the Government of Canada.
