“My Family is the Best” Event

ADWAR Association held an event called “My family is the best”, on Tuesday 30/8/2022 at the Child Care Society’s hall in Al-Khader town, that aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of gender-based violence and its impact on family and society. It also aimed to enhance communication among family members to set an environment free from violence, and to release the participants’ feelings of anger and frustration.

The event hosted the Mayor of Al-Khader town Mr. Ibrahim Moussa, the President of the Child Care Society Mr. Yasser Badr, a member of the Men’s Alliance Mr. Mustafa Ghoneim, a lot of children and their parents, and the members of the Men’s Alliance in Al-Khader town.

The Director-General of ADWAR association, Dr. Sahar Alkawasmeh, started the event with a speech that highlighted the importance of such activities, which would strengthen familial bonds. She also shed light on the significance of children’s adopting of positive behaviors, in order to reduce gender-based violence.

In turn, Mr. Ibrahim Moussa stressed the readiness of Al-Khader Municipality to cooperate in implementing and achieving social justice, as he praised the role of ADWAR Association in including Al-Khader town with its activities.

Mr. Yasser Badr also spoke about the importance of strengthening family ties and the need to acquire positive behaviors in dealing with anger and frustration.

In addition, Mr. Mustafa Ghoneim spoke about the importance of encouraging women to confront gender-based violence and enhancing their political and social participation.

The event also included interactive clown activities, and a theatrical show by Enad Theatre entitled “Bilalin and Hajjar”, which contributed to the children’s adoption of positive behaviors .

The activity was concluded with an open discussion with the participants, and the coalition members role in reducing gender-based violence in Palestinian society.

This meeting comes within the project “We Men Are Your Allies 2” in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund and in partnership with the Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association through the joint Hayat program funded by the Government of Canada.
