Roles for Social Change Association Holds a Meeting with Women Freed Prisoners

Hebron—Maan—Roles for Social Change association (ADWAR) held a meeting with women freed prisoners within Shalit deal in 2011. The meeting aimed to welcome and appreciate women prisoners' roles in Palestine in general and in Hebron, in particular.

The meeting focused on the issues that are related to the prisoners and their suffering in the prisons. The prisoners appreciated Roles association's care of them and inviting them to participate in the association's projects and activities. Also, the confirmed on their needs to participate in gender and development program as it enhances their personalities and balances their roles with men in family and society.

Sahar Alkawasmeh, Roles general director, said that "the association is responsible of supporting the Palestinian women prisoners accordant to their struggle and political roles in confirming on that Palestinian issue is a fair issue and deserves sacrifice to get freedom".

"All the non-governmental associations, especially the feminist associations, have to support them and their struggle in the present especially accordant to the cultural inheritance and perception toward them as society blame them and doesn't appreciate their sacrifice and role", Alkawasmeh added.
