Roles Association Hold a Meeting to Establish a Political Social   Movement
in Hebron District

Roles for Social Change Association (ADWAR) held a private meeting in the association building in Hebron to establish a political social movement that believe in social justice and has a real will to work on developing women situations.

A number of non-governmental feminist associations and national forces' representatives and Dar Al-Ifta attended the meeting.

Sahar Alkawasmeh, Roles general director, represented background about the association and its objectives, in addition to the definition of political social movement and its objectives. In addition, she confirmed on the importance of working on reducing problems that women suffer from in Hebron as honor killing, suicide and escape.  

Throughout the meeting, it was noted that there is no agreement on the exact and common definition of the social movement and its objectives. Also, it was not confirmed on that all women problems that were discussed do not take priority over other problems in the society. It was noted that the traditional culture dominates other associations' culture and women roles.

Saha Alkawasmeh, Roles general director, said that "Establishing of the social movement that believes in real change to change people circumstances and work for their favor is very difficult, at least at the present".

"It is difficult especially as we live with a domination of traditional concepts toward women roles and stereotypes toward the associations' representatives   and based on that, the association decided, throughout body of administration, to establish a supreme consultant council that consists of different associations' representatives including political parties", Alkawasmeh added.

The council aims to define women needs that demand a hard work in order to stop their problems and improve their life, in addition to create a woman who believes in social change in order to achieve a social justice.
