Roles for Social Change Association Signs the Agreement of a Project Entitled: “Women advocate against the concept of (Divorced women) and their isolation from civic live”

  The  General Director of Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR  Mrs. Sahar AlKawasmeh has signed  a project agreement entitled with:  ” Women Advocate Against the Concept of (Divorced Women) and Their Isolation from Civic Life ” in partnership with ” Middle East Partnership Initiative MEPI” ,and funded by the American Consulate.

   The project is targeting Palestinian women who have suffered from a divorce experience. It aims at enhancing and strengthening the self-esteem,breaks the barrier fears, raise the level of their knowledge and skills in decision making, and the importance of participation in public and civic life. Also, to fight against forms of discrimination based on gender, through meetings with decision makers in the Supreme Judicial Council, Ministry of Interior, in order to express their feelings and their pain from social harassments which they face of society and Palestinian Authority Organizations. Especially in registration of women before marriage (during the engagement period) by (divorced) in official documents. The project also aims at raising awareness of Palestinian society about changing the stereotyped thoughts towards these women, and the necessity to cancelling all genres of discrimination against women, either at the official or unofficial level.

  This project includes several activities, such as training programs, dialogues with officials, advocacy and compression days, in addition to media seminars and Public awareness meetings.

Sahar AlKawasmeh indicated that the project comes as a result to shed light on forms of discrimination against women who’s affected from divorcement trials, as the project will give them the chance to meet officials, to let them listen to their problems that they face regarding the concept of “divorced woman” in official documents, as well as discrimination against her  by social common culture of Palestinian people.
