“ADWAR” implements a radio and television episode where shading light on the reality of women’s needs in Ibziq Bedouin community – Tubas

Women Protection Committee in Ibziq Bedouin community in Tubas asked for the fulfillment of a set of gender-based needs of women, within the framework of the project “Towards Women who Lead Change” that Roles for Social Change Association is working on for the third year in row, which targeted women in priority communities in Palestine .
The confirmation of these claims came through a radio and TV episode prepared and implemented by ADWAR in partnership with Baladna and Ibziq local council, as the committee had previously held a number of accountability meetings with decision makers and the private sector in this regard.
A member of the Women Committee, Ibtisam Nawajaa, said that the committee held several meetings and came up with several demands, the most prominent of which is the provision of external lighting for homes at night, because of this importance in protecting the inhabitants of homes, especially children, and that the lighting contributes to facilitating the night work to take care of livestock, for which women bear the responsibility in this gathering, adding The private sector has been called upon to provide for this requirement.
She added that the committee asked the Ministry of Agriculture to provide seedlings for forest trees, to be planted in the vicinity of housing, which the ministry responded to by providing a number of these seedlings.
For his part, the head of Ibziq Council, Abdul Majid Sawafta, said that the council supports the work of the committee based on its belief in the importance of empowering women and achieving their demands, especially in front of the great role entrusted to them.
Sawafta appealed to the private sector to provide the demand for external lighting in homes, as this is attributed to the work and promotion of women.
ADWAR is implementing the “Towards Women who Lead Change” project for this year in six Bedouin communities in Tubas and Jericho, in line with women needs in these gatherings.
The project aims to represent Bedouin women in priority gatherings, working to protect their rights as a human right, raising the level of women’s participation in political and social life, and strengthening the role of women in questioning decision-makers in the government and private sectors in order to work to meet the needs of gender and improve the reality of services.
