In an honor of Violence against Women campaign week, ADWAR Association, in partnership with the SIDREH organizations in Negev, launched a conference to announce the Unified Bedouin Women Council today, Sunday 22/11, in Hebron

This conference comes within the activities of Our Path for Prosper Future project, funded by the European Union, that aims to empower women’s protection committees in Bedouin communities in West Bank and Negev, and to enhance dialogue and accountability mechanisms by these committees to improve the reality of services, and to enhance access mechanisms to gender-sensitive services.
for her Part the general Director of ADWAR Dr.Sahar Alkawasmeh said that The importance of the role of the Women Protection Committees as effective community leadership committees in highlighting the needs and rights of women in services, and the importance of appearing in the public sphere in front of decision makers in order to meet the response to those rights.
Members of the Women Protection Committees in the various gatherings expressed their happiness with what the project has achieved at several levels, especially with regard to breaking the barriers of expressing their needs, and developing their abilities to set priorities and hold decision-makers accountable with regard to gender-based needs.
The conference included a set of activities aimed at exchanging experiences and bridging views between the women of the Negev and the women of the West Bank, in preparation for the formation of the Unified Bedouin Women Council, so that they would be able in the future to achieve their demands.
Before the conclusion, the Women’s Council were elected by the women participants representing the Women’s Protection Committees and the rest of them of the targeted communities within the project.
