Launching a men’s Alliance to support women’s political participation in local government

In honor of the Combat Violence against Women week, ADWAR celebrated the launch of the Men’s Alliance to support women’s political participation in local governance, as part of the activities of the “We Men Are Your Allies” project, in partnership with the Gender Forum in Local Governance, the Municipalities of Al-Khader, Beit Ummar, Battir, Iadna, and Palestine Technical University Khadoorie – Branch Al-Arroub, on Saturday 13/11/2021 in Jericho.
The launch of the coalition came with the aim of introducing the role of its members in supporting the participation of women and young women and preparing a position paper that includes the most important recommendations and mechanisms that would increase women’s participation and hand it over to the Ministry of Local Government in order to develop joint action to reduce those challenges that prevent women from accessing decision-making positions.
The General Director of ADWAR, Dr. Sahar al-Kawasmeh, says that this alliance would contribute to bringing about social change by playing leadership roles in Palestinian society that would enhance women’s political participation, play leadership roles, and influence government policies, procedures, and programs that enable women to participate.
