Unified Women’s Council Members in the West Bank accountable the decision-makers in the Palestinian government

ADWAR Association conducted today Thursday 25/11/2021 a public hearing and accountability session with presence of the Unified Council members , the Women’s Protection Committee and a large number of men as a supportive voice and advocate for women’s rights and as partners in change , Lana Abu Ajamiya, representing ADWAR, Ali AlManasra, Mayor of Bani Naem and members of the municipality, Munther AlJunaidi from the Local Government Department, Eng. Bahjat AlJabarin, Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority, and Mr. Muhammad Amr, Director of Resistance of the Wall and Settlement Commission in the South, and other members.
The hearing and accountability session aimed to present women and girls needs in Masafer Bani Naem in services.
The Unified Council women members presented all demands to the responsible authorities, each with its competence, they focused on forming a local council in the gathering importance, They demanded the Ministry of Local Government to work and cooperate in the council formation and to represent the largest possible number of women as decision-makers, the members demanded Bani Naem municipality to find solutions to water , stray dogs and transportation for school students problems, and allocating a budget to finish and restore schools in order to start work in them at the beginning of next year, they also stressed the importance of solving the environmental problems that they suffers from, such as waste, sewage and disposal methods problems, in addition to cooperate with the municipality to solve the dangerous stray dogs problem.
In the end, the women council members handed over the Bedouin Women Convention Rights certified and signed by women and men to decision-makers in the Palestinian government in order to reflect these demands in plans, policies and procedures that would contribute to improving the reality of services.
For her part, the project manager, Lana Abu Ajamiya, stressed the need for the continuity of hearings and public accountability and the importance of joint cooperation between all parties responsible for providing various services in order to stand up to their responsibilities and fulfill their promises due to the significant positive impact that this has on women’s lives.
This activity comes within the activities of the “Our Path for Prosper Future” project, in partnership with the SIDREH Organization in Negev, and funded by the European Union.
