ADWAR Association implemented activities of third phase in the project: “Women advocate against the concept of (Divorced) and their isolation from civic life” which are public meetings in Partnership with Middle East Partnership Initiative MEPI and funded by American Consulate.
Public meetings are being implemented in Palestinian Universities and governorates offices, at (Hebron , Jericho, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, Tubas, Salfeet) aiming at awareness of young women and men in Palestinian society and in universities in particular towards changing negative stereotypes image for women who have been through divorce experience ‘after or before marriage’, as well as confirming their rights to participate in civic life and limit all types of discrimination against them.
The Tenth public meeting has been implemented on Thursday 9\7\2015, in cooperation with Woman Association of Beit Ummar north of Hebron as it took place in beit Ummar charitable Society, whom welcomed ADWAR to implement the public meeting.
As for her part ADWAR’s projects coordinator Bayan Salaymeh pointed that this is the second public meeting in Hebron because the first one was positively successful through the open discussion that was conducted after the stage show entitled, “The Stranger” which embodies the Palestinian society negative image on women who went through divorce experience and their suffering.
As ADWAR’s general director Mrs Sahar AlKawasmeh confirmed the importance of the project in our Palestinian community and the importance of targeting young women and men to change for a better society that ensures social justice for both women and men. Also, she stressed the need to intensify the institutional work not only to support and work for the advancement of women who have undergone the experience of divorce, but in order to support them to reach the highest positions in society but also to or the abolish all forms of discrimination practiced against them.
