Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR completed the capacity building training program within the project (Empowering Bedouin women in decision-making and accountability within local councils) funded by the Netherland representative Office in partnership with the Bedouin Local Councils, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, The General Union of Palestinian Women and The Central Election Commission, and Ma’an Network.
The training program targeted Bedouin women in the Bedouin communities located southeast of Yatta, – Hebron (Khashm AlDaraj, AlNajada, Um AlKhair, and AlZweideen), aimed to develop women capabilities in the field of political participation, good governance, accountability mechanisms and gender issues, also to strengthen their social and political roles within Bedouin communities.
Bedouin women expressed satisfaction of the training and gained experiences in order to activate their social and political role and work to fulfill gender needs of Bedouin women.
ADWAR’s General Director Sahar Yousef AlKawasmeh indicated that the first phase of the project has ended, which is considered to be important according to knowledge and skills acquired by women to accountable decision-makers in related ministries, in order to fulfill needs of Bedouin women, which is one of the most important priorities.
