Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR completed the capacity building training program within the project (Increasing Women’s Political Participation Through Effective local election in Marginalized community)

Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR completed the capacity building training program within the project (Increasing Women’s Political Participation Through Effective local election in Marginalized community) in partnership with the German Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is implemented in partnership with the Local Bedouin councils, Protection committees, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and Ma’an Network.
The capacity building training targeted Bedouin women in AlJahaleen/Abu Nowar gathering of east Jerusalem and Arab AlRamadin south of Hebron, in which aimed to improve the capacities of marginalized Bedouin women about the importance of political participation in local elections through nomination and voting, as well as access to decision-making positions in the local Bedouin councils, in order to raise gender practical and strategic based services level. It also focused on self-esteem capabilities, international conventions ,and local Palestinian laws such as elections and local bodies law in order to strengthen their social and political roles within Bedouin communities.
Bedouin women expressed satisfaction of the training and gained experiences in order to activate their social and political role and work to fulfill gender needs of Bedouin women.
ADWAR’s General Director Sahar Yousef AlKawasmeh indicated that the first phase of the project had ended, along with the importance of Palestinian Society and Bedouin communities’ awareness about integrating Bedouin women in local Bedouin councils. That is to fulfill needs of Bedouin women which is one of the most important priorities. She also added that ADWAR is preparing for the upcoming phase of Women to Women meetings in order to pass knowledge and capacities to a larger number of women.
