Roles for Social Change Association –ADWAR finished the first level the training program activities within the project “Bedouin women protection committee to activate 1325 resolution in Area C” in partnership with United Nations entity for Gender equality and women’s empowerment, funded by the Spanish agency for cooperation for development, and in cooperation with Woman Affairs Ministry, The Association of Woman’s Committee for social work, Colonization and Wall resistance Committee, the Independent Commotion for Human Rights, Bedouin local councils, and Ma’an network.
Where trainees learned about Gender, 1325 resolution, documentary and monitoring mechanisms, violations based on Gender concept, also the concept of transferral system that are related to psycho-social health and protection committee role in supporting Bedouin women who need services.
the project aims to establish a protection committee for Bedouin women in order to document the violations which they face, and practice their role in maintaining security and peace based on 1325 resolution.
25 trainees participated in the training and established a protection committee for Bedouin women in Um AlKhair Bedouin community as a first in that community. In which men are usually responsible for protection committees. But women will be responsible also in their own protection committee to document violations and illustrate their suffering due to political violence.
ADWAR’s deputy of board of directors Mr. Fayez Amro, and the general director Sahar Yousef AlKawasmeh as well as the financial director Reem AlJoulani distributed cameras and laptops in order to facilitate the work of the protection committee members and document violations by writing and captures. Furthermore, to ensure effective field work to activate 1325 resolution and accountability of decision makers in Palestinian Government and international authorities for them to activate their role by working on protect Bedouin women rights in Area C
As AlKawasmeh indicated that the first level which is the hardest just finished , then the protection committee will continues its monitoring , documenting and preparing the primary documentary report which will be distributed at the end of the project.
