Roles for Social Change Association in partnership with the Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN) held a training day at ADWAR in Hebron, as part of AMAN’s effort to promote integrity and transparency in the electoral process in general and campaigns financing in particular. Within partnership with civil society institutions, which is implemented by AMAN along with the Central Election Commission and funded by the European Union.
the training course took place in Hebron with presence of many representative of grassroots associations, which stressed on the importance of those associations’ role in the “control over campaign financing “.
The training started with the ADWAR’s Deputy of Board of Directors for – Fayez Amr- and ADWAR’s project coordinator – Noor Edah- she talk about the important of the partnership with AMAN in the implementation of activities that raise awareness about the importance control over election campaigns.
Also participated in the training the director of raising awareness unit and community outreach – Lana Tawasha- and the trainer in democracy and human rights issue – Omar Rahal-. Lana Toashh confirmed the AMAN’s messages in reducing corruption in the civil society, And the importance of strengthening civil personnel and official institutions capabilities in monitoring the electoral funding, and promote integrity, transparency and accountability in the electoral process. This training day aimed to train the trainees on using the guide evidence prepared by AMAN to control campaign financing.
After that the trainer start the training by brainstorming and break the barriers, then talk about campaign electrical finance in Palestine and its legal framework, the electoral system in Palestine as a mixed electoral system, Electoral expenses and some forms of financial corruption in elections.
This training contains several main topics these are: Palestinian electoral system, The legal framework for the financing the presidential, legislative and local election campaigns in Palestine, electoral crimes and punishments, electoral expenses, and civilian control of the campaign finance.
At the end of the training the trainees came out many of the recommendations include: Strengthening the role of the young men and women from civil society institutions in the formation of the Gardens of control over the electoral campaigns, and Intensifying meetings and training courses on the subject of control over elections.
