ADWAR implemented an Accountability session within the project entitled (“Supporting Women Protection Committee for gender equality in humanitarian response)

Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR implemented an Accountability session within the project entitled (“Supporting Women Protection Committee for gender equality in humanitarian response) in partnership with UN Women and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development, in cooperation with Ministry Of Local Government, Local Councils, Ministry Of Women Affairs.
This project aims to enhance the participation of Women Protection Committee members in responding to the humanitarian needs of women and girls in their communities. Besides, to accountable decision-makers for their role in filling the gaps regarding gender needs.
The general director of ADWAR, Sahar Alkawasmeh opened the session and pointed out the importance of this project as it works on fulfilling the needs of women and girls in Mafsafer Yatta. As well as she praised the role of Women Protection Committee in preparing the bill of rights for their most important and needed humanitarian, human rights and developmental needs.
She also emphasized the importance of the roles of Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Local Government, and Ministry of Agriculture in fulfilling the strategic plans in which they adopt to protect women and girls rights in marginalized communities. As well, she pointed out the importance of UN WOMEN Associations in working on intensifying their work in providing humanitarian aids and developmental projects in which play a role in developing the reality of women and girls.
The head of local council, Mr. Nidal Abu Iram also welcomed the honored guests and audience and affirmed the importance of partnership relationship between the local council and ADWAR and their common role they play to help women. In addition, he reaffirmed the role of women in Masafer Yatta in enhancing steadfastness on ground, and women are the ones who protect their homes and families.
Also, the under-secretary of Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Bassam AlKhatib praised the role of women in Masafer Yatta, and he confirmed that he will do his best to communicate with Council of Ministers to intensify their services provided to women and girls in Masafer Yatta. In addition to direct international organizations to support women. Also, he praised the importance of men’s support to the women in these areas.
Moreover, the general director of Directorate of Local Government, Mr. Rasheed Awwad reviewed the role of Ministry of Local Government and the presence of women in local councils and the ministry categorical rejection of any list that does not include women. He also affirmed the importance of Masafer Yatta women’s role in local councils and confirming his promise to put the humanitarian needs of Masafer Yatta women and girls on the top of the Ministry task ladder.
Besides, the head of planning department of Ministry of Agriculture, Ms. Qamar Hawamdeh had discussed the role of Ministry of Agriculture and its projects and services, which it provides to women and its achievements on ground. She also affirmed that women and girls of Masafer Yatta are one of ministry’s targeted groups to provide all agriculture services.
Furthermore, the projects coordinator of UN WOMEN, Ms. Inas Marghieh showed the role of the project and its importance in fulfilling the humanitarian needs of women and girls I Masafer Yatta. She also emphasized the role of UN in coordinating and networking with other UN programs to improve women and girls’ conditions.
The members of Women Protection Committee, Majida Alrabaie’e, Samia Abu Iram, and Wafaa Abu Iram concluded this session by delivering the bill of rights to officials to start working on fulfilling the needs. As well, they expressed women needs and asked for real and serious work on ground without slogans.
Yet, the delivering of bill of rights was followed by a field visit in Al-Masafer to recognize women and girls conditions.
