ADWAR finished the first activities within the project entitled (Protecting Women Legal Rights)

Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR finished the first activities within the project entitled (Protecting Women Legal Rights) which are four educational seminars. These educational seminars aim to introduce women legal rights that protect women from gender-based violence, enhance equality between sexes, support marginalized women in breaking the barriers to reach Family Courts, and increase awareness to local communities in Hebron City about Family Courts service and procedures. Yet, this project is implemented in partnership with the Enhanced Palestinian Justice Programme and funded by USAID and in cooperation with Family Court, four higher education institutes in the southern West Bank, and three Youth Centers in Hebron city.

Moreover, these four educational seminars were implemented in Beit Ula, Beit Umar, AlDahriya, and Tarqumia, in the presence of honored judges of Family Court, the judge Asmahan Al-Wahidi, the judge Ihab Iskafy, and the judge Abdullah Alisayli and the legal consultant Muhammad Ajlouni.

Besides, the general director of ADWAR affirmed the importance of this phase as it aims to increase women awareness about Family Courts services and women rights. As well, she pointed out the importance of the second phase of this project, which is theater performances implemented at Palestinian universities in Hebron. This second phase, which complements the first one, aims to increase awareness of universities student about women legal rights and Family Courts services and procedures. In addition, it aims to create meaningful discussion to change men perspective on women’s role and stereotypes.
