Al Horriyya News Agency-Protection committees started in the “marginalized” priority areas in order to improve the living conditions of all Palestinian families. The idea of women’s protection committees came from the fact that the speech was single on behalf of one woman. but it became plural on behalf of all women entitled ” Protection Committees”
In this context, Dr. Sahar Al-Kawasmeh, director of Roles for Social Change Association ADWAR, said in an interview with Al-Horriya that the idea of establishing protection committees exists in all regions. The establishment process is one of the most important strategies that works to build society and protect the family and it’s also one of the most important tools that sheds the light on the Services and needs, where women play an important role in protecting the home, family and society.
She added that health services are provided in priority areas but need to be improved and developed, and that the Palestinian Ministry of Health does not provide services as required.
Al-Kawasmi said that the Health Department in the South is doing its work, but there are needs that are not provided, such as high-priced medicines. In addition, the medical staff is not enough to provide all services, which causes women to object to medical services.
She concluded that the care provided to children is not enough, especially since the service is provided for one day only for children is not enough.
Dr. Afif Al Atawneh, director of the Southern Health Department, told Al Horriya that Health Department is seeking to improve the provision of all health services to all areas including remote areas at all levels of health, including maternal and child services, maternity care and postnatal services directly to the age of two. In the areas of priority, especially in Ramadin, Freijat, Samia in Samoo’, and the areas south of Hebron, the balance of services provided in the center of cities.
He added that Health Department is working to provide all kinds of medicines and medical tests necessary, and do everything possible within the available possibilities and needs, where services are provided in all areas, and areas that do not have services are certainly the services are in the areas closest to it, where is Provision of services five days a week.
He stressed on the provision of medicines, including high-priced medicines for citizens in the priority areas, where the price of medicines in some cases to 6 thousand shekels per month for one family and was provided by the Health Department of the south.
He added that there is a basic basket of medicines in the Ministry of Health, which has been developed compared to previous years. Many essential medicines have been included in this basket, adding that Health Department seeks to develop the place and time and the most efficient medical teams to provide medical services nationwide.
Kawasmeh said that what is required now is to find a joint mechanism between the members of the protection committees and the Ministry of Health to resolve all outstanding problems and meet the demands of the population in the priority areas.
Al-Atawneh stressed that citizens should be informed of the health system in place in order to receive the health service after completing the required procedures.
