Women are working to reproduce a culture based on justice and social protection

On Tuesday, 23/11/2021, In honor of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women, ADWRA Association launched “Telling my story” event in Almatal Park in Dura, as part of the project activities “Reproducing a culture based on justice and social protection” in partnership with Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association PFPPA, and funded by UNFPA.

This activity aims to contribute, empower women individually and enhance their capabilities to reduce discriminatory practices in general, by presenting strong models of women and building a women’s network that protects their rights and works to create a new culture based on justice and strengthening women and girls roles.

ADWAR Association General Director Dr. Sahar Alkawasmeh started the event by highlighting the importance of creating new mechanisms to confront the discriminatory practices that women and girls are exposed to, and that it is women who play the main role in reproducing a new culture based on justice and limiting the dominance of the patriarchal system and outdated customs against Palestinian women.

In turn, the gender program officer at the UNFPA, Ms. Sana Assi, confirmed that our project was implemented in order to protect women’s rights and contribute to stop violence against them, by strengthening the civil society organizations role in working with women, encouraging them to engage and obtaining services and working to empower them at all levels.

For her part, the project coordinator Noor Manassra ensured the importance of such events, specifically telling stories that highlight the women leadership role and how they have a significant impact in bringing about this transformation in gender relations.

The event included several activities and segments in celebration of the 16 Days of combating Violence Campaign, including telling a story and releasing balloons aimed to build women’s network that supports each other and establishes strong women models.
