Sunday, 6/8/2023 ADWAR Association held a Round table meeting entitled “The Impact of Division on Conducting Elections and the Democratic Process,” in cooperation with the National Coordination Commission in Hebron Governorate.
in the presence of the national forces representatives in Hebron, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, and activists from the local community, where the most important reasons that impede the democratic process and prevent holding elections were discussed, in addition to the repercussions of the Palestinian situation, which is witnessing an internal division, which results in this situation disrupting The legislative authority and the accountability absence and oversight, and thus the absence of a system of integrity and transparency.
For their part, the attendees emphasized and unanimously agreed that, as a clear effect of the democracy absence and the absence of the rule of law, this led to the formation of a state of uncertainty among the Palestinian people, which resulted in the marginalization of the young men, women role, and the absence of a human rights development path based on justice, equality, and security and safety lack.
At the end of the meeting, ADWAR and Women in Hebron Governorate issued a statement calling for the need to put pressure to end the state of internal division in order to ensure that general elections are held in all fairness and transparency.
This meeting comes within the framework of ADWAR initiative “Women are defenders and fighters against economic corruption that undermines democracy and the foundations of a fair and effective economy” in partnership with the Coalition for Integrity and Accountability “AMAN”.
