Roles for Social Change Association – ADWAR has initiated the implementation of the project “Improving the Social and Economic Situation of Bedouin Women in East Jerusalem.” in partnership with women protection committee. The project aims to enhance the capacities and skills of Bedouin young women through training, development, knowledge transfer, and the provision of sustainable employment opportunities. Additionally, it seeks to empower and enhance their roles by improving their psychological and social conditions in East Jerusalem. This includes reducing discriminatory practices faced by them, whether in the private or public sphere, and developing professional skills for women engaged in economic activities, particularly in project management, technical skills, and product marketing in the public spheres. Furthermore, the project aims to elevate existing activities into major economic projects that contribute to economic development and gross domestic product.
The project targets Palestinian Bedouin women, especially young women and women with disabilities in Bedouin communities in East Jerusalem, specifically Arab al-Jahalin, Abu Nuwar, Jabal al-Muntar, Anata, al-Khan al-Ahmar, and Jaba.
To achieve the desired goals, ADWAR Association has commenced the implementation of in-depth educational meetings aimed at improving the psychological and social situation of women by reducing the level of stress and psychological pressure they face, given the current political situation in Palestine. This includes addressing issues of gender-based violence, lack of self-confidence, and harmful discriminatory practices against women in social and economic relationships within the family and local community. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of economic empowerment, decision-making, and active economic participation.
