Today: Thursday 15/2/2018- Masafer Yatta, Hebron
Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR and in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture, Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, and Yatta Local Council implemented a meeting entitled (Responding to Humanitarian Needs for Women and Girls of Yatta). This meeting was the result of advocacy and accountability day that was on 29/11/2017 within the project entitled) Supporting Women Protection Committee for gender equality in humanitarian response, in cooperation with Ministry of Local Government, Local Councils, Ministry of Women Affairs; in which this advocacy day aimed to deliver a bill of rights for their needs. Some pf these needs represented in agriculture and animal welfare, as well educational and health services and public works.
As a result of this advocacy day, the Ministry of Agriculture represented by Yatta Agriculture and Veterinary Directorate responded to women and girls’ needs to collaborate in developing their situations through offering variety of trees. This meeting was implemented in the presence of the general director of ADWAR, Ms. Sahar Alkawasmeh, and the member of board of Directors Inas Ramouz, the director of Yatta Agriculture Directorate, Dr. Iyad Farj Allah, the director of Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in Hebron, Younis Arar, the director of Yatta local Council Nidal Abu Iram, the member of Yatta local Council Majida Al Rabaie, and All members of Women Protection Committee.
Alkwasmeh, opened this meeting and thanked Ministry of Agriculture for its responding and she showed how this phase highlights the readiness of decision-makers to change women’s situations in Almasafer, and fulfilling their humanitarian needs mentioned in the bill of rights. As well, fulfilling other needs and offering a better agriculture, social, and economic environment.
In his word, Abu Iram thanked ADWAR’s role in supporting women and girls and Protection Women Committee’s members in resisting and protecting the land. As well, he thanked men’s supportive role in supporting the committee in doing their duties. Besides, he encouraged women to ask more for their needs and rights to improve their situations; also, he thanked Yatta agriculture Directorate for responding to Women Protection Committee members’ needs.
Moreover, Farj Allah explained his commitment to work with women to improve their situations and he introduced several projects to improve their situations, especially animal welfare projects. Hel also assured that tree caring and maintenance is the sign that women will get more trees and agriculture equipment.
At the end, Alrabie and Farj Alllah finished the meeting with distributing the tress.
