Roles for Social Change Association-ADWAR started its capacity building training program within the project entitled (Palestinian Environment Guards) Funded by Global Environment Facility GEF/ Small Grants Programme SGP / United Nation Development Programme UNDP. This project is implemented in partnership with Environment Quality Authority, Ministry of Agriculture, Tarqumia Municipality, and Beit-Kahel Municipality. Also, in partnership with Tarqumia Women Charitable Organization, Tarqumia Women Club, and Cooperative Association for Saving and Credit-Beit Kahel.
The project aims to develop the health and environmental conditions resulting from the environmentally unsound assaults of different wastes and recycling them in an aesthetic way that contributes to the development of women’s participation in the environmental and economic fields. This can be approached through institutionalize women protection committees entitled “Natural Reserve Guards” and develop their capacities about their environmental roles and improve their accountability methods.
Moreover, the general director of ADWAR, Ms. Sahar Alkawasmeh emphasized the importance of this phase as it works on developing women’s capacities and knowledge, in order to institutionalize “Natural Reserve Guards”; in which they will protect the reserve from environmentally unsound assaults. Besides, recycling of various wastes and preserve the natural heritage and appearance of the reserve.
Today, the first training meeting was held in Tarqumia at Tarqumia Women Charitable Organization, and aimed to introduce the concept of “Natural Reserve” and its elements. As well, it introduced the negative impact of wastes on human beings and environment in general.
