Roles For Social Change (ADWAR) Starts Implementing the Social Media Awareness Campaign Activities to Enhance Women Right to Inheritance

In partnership with YMCA and funding by European Union, Roles for social change association starts implementing the social media awareness campaign to enhance women right to inheritance; included with the “Women Right to Inheritance” YMCA Project.
The campaign targeted a group of men and women in Hebron in order to break women’s fear and silence barriers to enhance them demand for their right to inheritance and stop concession it. It aimed also to change men’s traditional appointment and receive their support to get this right.
 In addition, the campaign also aimed to raise social awareness toward the importance of confirming on women right to inheritance and practicing this right on real life. It is worth mentioning that the campaign will be from November – December / 2012.
 The campaign consists of activities which will be media episodes (T.V and Radio episodes) and seminar sessions. At this moment, Roles Association has implemented two radio episodes entitled “Awareness about women right to inheritance in terms of social and religious rights”.
Juwana Rafeidi, women right to inheritance project’s coordinator in YMCA, said that “the associations worked for three years in establishing eight feminist basic associations in terms of supporting and advocating women right to inheritance as it is one of the economical basis which helps and supports women inside families and society”.
“The eight associations had achieved awareness campaigns targeted the local societies; men, women, clergy, school students, village councils and media to confirm on this right and its legitimacy” , Rafeidi added.
Sahar Alkawasmeh, Roles general director, said that “this campaign is very important as it helps women in Hebron City to overcome their shyness, in addition to its effects on men’s mentality to create active initiatives supporting women rights to inheritance which all divine religions confirm”.
