YMCA Achieved the Second Stage of “Women Right to Inheritance” three Workshops

 In partnership with YMCA and funding by European Union, Roles for Social Change Association (ADWAR ) has implemented three workshops entitled “women right to inheritance” in Roles association’s hall in Hebron; including “women right to inheritance” project.
 The workshops targeted 65  participants and aimed to raise their awareness about two levels; the first level was about confirming on the importance of social practice to demand women rights to inheritance and its positive effects on women’s life and developing their position in societies.
 The second level was a religious one whereas there were all trainees were aware of the importance to enhance women to get their inheritance right without forcing them to do concession in order to help change culture in society. In addition to affect men to work positively for women rights; as each responsible and active man has to make an affective role in supporting women roles.
The workshops also aimed to change the traditional culture through active and serious works to demand for women right to inheritance and encouraging them to get it without concession. This may progress their skills in ownership and decision making in their families and societies.   
The workshops had positive reflections for women whereas women talked about problems and social issues which they suffer from while they demand to get their rights. They complained to the workshops’ interlocutors, who were Sahar Alkawasmeh and Sheikh Ibrahim Boidein, about methods and ways which women have to use to get their right to inheritance.
 At the end of the workshops, the trainees confirmed on the importance of the awareness workshops’ continuity and the importance of making fellow up sessions, by the social feminist and religious associations,  for women who face problems with their families to get their right to inheritance.
Juana Rafeidi, women right to inheritance coordinator in YMCA, noted that the project is achieving its goals day by day through enhancing women to go for fee legal consulting that the project adopted at the end of the workshops.
“The project arrived to a group of men and women in Palestine especially for the marginalized areas which we aim to affect them and change the traditional culture toward supporting women in their right to inheritance”, Rafeidi added.  
Sahar Alkawasmeh, Roles Association general director, said that “the awareness workshops confirmed on the importance of cooperation working between the feminist and social associations which work for women and to get their needs and demands”.
She noted to the religious associations’ roles which confirmed on practicing the rights specially the right to inheritance relating that to Islam.
“These workshops have got great results because the Sheikh enhanced men to give women their right of inheritance; as Islam also supports women not to abdicate this right”, Alkawasmeh added.
