Enough Violence:" Honor Killing" Project Is In The Process

 In partnership with Women Center for Researches and Documentation and  funding by UNISCO, Roles  for Social Change Association (ADWAR) implemented the first workshop in violence against women and honor killing which is concerned as a common phenomenon  in Palestine, in general,  and in Hebron , in particular.

 23 participants joined the workshop from different universities in Palestine. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the target group about violence and honor killing. Also, it aimed to inform them about divine religions' perspective about these issues and to guide them to know the dangers of their results; whereas they does not only relate to women but also they relate to men as well.  

 The workshop focused on youth's roles by getting rid of these issues throughout affecting others who are in the same age level. They also can help doing that in their families by supporting their mothers’ and sisters and protecting them from violence.

 At the end, the participants emphasized on their effective role of  reducing honor killing and violence phenomenon by making a network within men and women and by designing and publishing brochures in Hebron area to get away from this dangerous phenomenon.

Sahar Kawasmeh, Roles Association general director, said that “This project is very important as it focuses on a dangerous phenomenon under unreal and menial pretexts. “Honor killings” comes under many reasons like legacy or political belonging" ,Al Kawasmeh added. Alkawasmeh also asked all the associations, including national and political forces to adopt this phenomenon and to enhance youths to get rid of it by doing an affective role in the society.
